[BIO]

I am a licensed attorney and have worked on a variety of issues, including migration, natural disasters, humanitarian emergencies, treaties, human rights, and energy, land use, environmental and telecommunications policy. I grew up in California’s Central Valley, but left after high school in order to study, work and travel in the bay area, on the east coast, Europe and Latin America. After returning to California for a couple of years, I’m now based in Washington DC where I work on immigration policy for a think tank.  I am of mixed race European and Latin-American descent, thanks to my Portuguese father and Mexican mother. This multi-ethnic background has fueled my interest in travel and international affairs.

[LANGUAGES]

I was raised speaking Portuguese and Spanish at home, while learning to speak English in grade school.  Although English was the final language I learned, I consider it my native tongue – but I read and write fluently in all three, and have utilized them all academically and professionally.  Also, I am attempting to learn French – I’ve taken courses at the at the University of California and am currently enrolled at the Alliance Française.
